Capturing The Landscape
About
Belinda Millar is a contemporary landscape painter whose work is inspired by the feeling of being completely immersed in the outdoors. Painting en plein air across the British countryside and seaside, she works directly within the landscape, responding to shifting weather, changing light, and the energy of a place in the moment.
Her paintings combine expressive brushwork with bold colour to create landscapes that sit somewhere between observation and memory. A signature fluorescent pink ground glows beneath the surface of each piece, bringing warmth, energy and a playful feeling of joy.
Rather than capturing locations exactly, Belinda is interested in the emotional experience of landscape and how a place can stay with you long after you’ve left it. Long walks, changing seasons, and time spent observing the natural world all feed into her intuitive painting process, resulting in works that feel immediate, energetic, and open to personal interpretation.
Through layered colour and instinctive mark-making, her paintings invite viewers to connect with landscape through mood, memory, and sensation rather than geography alone.
