Capturing The Landscape

About

Artist Statement

Belinda Millar’s work is an exploration of the interplay between colour, mark-making, and form. Through her use of vibrant hues and dynamic brushstrokes, Millar captures the essence of emotion and movement of a place.

Belinda Millar is a predominantly en plein air landscape artist based in Oxfordshire. Her love for the outdoors echoes in her practice, working in the landscape on expressive pieces which capture the movement and feeling of a day. Each piece is a testament to the ever-changing light, shifting horizons, and the immersive experience of painting outdoors, which allows Millar to connect with the natural world in a multisensory way. With brush in hand and the elements as their guide, Millar translates landscapes into vivid impressions - ephemeral yet preserved in frame.

Her Abstract process is intuitive and yet methodical, allowing the materials to guide her, resulting in artworks that are both organic and structured. Millar draws her main inspiration from nature, weaving these influences into her art to create a rich tapestry of visual storytelling.
